The Rolex Datejust is one of the most iconic and most beloved Rolex watches ever made. Launched in 1945, it has remained a timeless classic, instantly recognizable as an item of advanced quality and functional design. This specific 1972 Datejust Ref. 1601 retains its original Grey "pie-pan" stick marker dial and is in excellent condition with its original Jubilee bracelet and white gold fluted bezel. This piece would make a great start for a new vintage collector, or be a great addition to an expanding collection. We love the early Rolex Datejust for its simplicity and its classic sophistication. 

SPECS

CASE & BRACELET

The excellent case retains thick and symmetrical lugs that feature crisp finishing and light signs of use throughout. The white gold fluted bezel is in excellent unpolished condition, showing light signs of use. The case back is signed 1600 which is common and original as parts were interchangeable from Rolex factory in this era. The Rolex 6251H rolled-link Jubilee bracelet with 55 end pieces is in very impressive condition, showing only mild stretch in its 22 links. The bracelet will fit up to a 7 3/4 inch wrist.

DIAL & HANDS

The grey sunburst dial is in near flawless condition with no notable wear or damage present. The tritium lume plots have achieved a vivid yellow patina and exhibit no degradation under U.V. light inspection. The original tritium hands match the dial perfectly and display no degradation when expected under U.V. light. The metallic date wheel is original with open 6's and 9's.
