The Rolex Datejust is one of the most iconic and most beloved Rolex watches ever made, even though the Datejust was launched in 1945 it has remained a timeless classic and is instantly recognizable as an item of refined quality and functional design. The Datejust can be worn just as easily with a suit as it can be with jeans and a tee shirt.

A Sigma dial is a Rolex dial named for the letters printed at the bottom of the dial below the 6 o'clock marker. Most Rolex dials are commonly marked with “T Swiss T,” under the 6 o'clock marker, however, a Sigma dial is marked “σ T SWISS T σ.” This signifies the use of gold components within the dial.

This piece would make an excellent start for a new vintage collector, or be a great addition to an expanding collection. We love the early Rolex Datejust for its simplicity and its classic sophistication.

CASE & BRACELET

The thick case retains even and symmetrical lugs that show gentle signs of honest use and minimal polishing. The stainless steel engine-turned bezel appears to remain unpolished with light signs of honest use present. The Rolex rolled-link Jubilee bracelet with 55 end pieces is stamped 2/71 and retains 21 links that show normal stretch for the style and age of the bracelet and will fit up to a 7 1/4-inch wrist.

DIAL & HANDS

The original "pie-pan" blue sunburst "Sigma" dial is in excellent overall condition. The dial shows light patina at its edges and around the lume plots which is common for colored Datejust dials of this era, but no actual damage is present. The tritium lume plots have achieved a vibrant yellow patina and exhibit no degradation when inspected under U.V. light. The original tritium hands have taken on a dark patina with no degradation present under U.V. light inspection. The metallic date wheel is original with "open" 6's and 9's.

ACCESSORIES 

None. The watch was recently serviced and is keeping time perfectly, backed by a 1-year warranty on accurate timekeeping.
