The Rolex Day-Date is one of the most iconic and beautiful watches in the Rolex catalog. The Rolex Day-Date earned the nickname "President" after it had been rumored that President a Dwight Eisenhower began wearing one.  In reality, Eisenhower wore a Rolex 18K yellow gold Oyster Perpetual Datejust which Rolex gifted to him in 1950. However the nickname President stuck and is quite fitting for the Day-Date as Presidents Kennedy, Johnson, Ford, Reagan, Nixon and Roosevelt, all wore the Rolex Day-Date model.  It has always been a symbol of status and luxury as the Rolex Day-Date is only made in precious metals most commonly 18k yellow gold and possesses both the day and date complications within the movement. In 1988 Rolex released the cal. 3155 also known as the double "quick-set" which allows the quick setting of the day and date complications by rotating clockwise/counterclockwise while in position two, making the setting of the watch quick and easy.  

Platinum Day-Dates have always been a captivating subsector for the Rolex Day-Date reference range. Platnum Day-Dates are extremely rare due to low production numbers making platinum Day-Dates highly collectible. These rare beauties are symbols of refinement amongst the Day-Date reference family, often featuring diamond set dials and bezels. However, platinum Day-Dates are successful in not appearing overly flashy but yet more refined and ornate. The diamonds enhance the appearance of the watch as opposed to taking over the watches aesthetic which is much often the case for a yellow gold example that is gem set. The impressive and well-preserved platinum case is believed to remain unpolished, boasting extremely crisp factory finishing throughout with light signs of gentle use. The original factory-set diamond and platinum bezel is in excellent condition, retaining all of its original stones and showing nominal elements of previous use. The case retains its original platinum crown, which distinctly features a single dot underneath the Rolex coronet. The case back retains its original factory green Rolex sticker. The original platinum Rolex President bracelet with 55B end pieces retains 24 links that show gentle stretch and will fit up to a 7 3/4-inch wrist

DIAL & HANDS

The silver sunburst dial with factory-set diamond markers is flawless, showing no damage in any form. The diamond markers have been inspected for their clarity and remain original to the watch. The tritium lume plots remain full and round, showing no degradation under UV light inspection and feature a subtle ivory patina. The original tritium hands match the dial perfectly and display no degradation or lume loss under UV light inspection.
